If I call Kent Blazy and go over there (to his house), the dogs'll be inside -- he spoils 'em all the time -- and we'll write on the back porch and we'll drink limeade like we did in '89. That's just him.

Kent in the News

Win a songwriting session with Kent Blazy by entering the American Songwriter Magazine Amateur Lyric Contest (Sept/Oct 2008).

American Songwriter magazine sponsors a bi-monthly Amateur Lyric Contest, established in 1984. No music-only lyrics needed, and all genres of music are accepted. The winning lyrics, along with the three runners-up, will be printed in their entirety in the coinciding issues of American Songwriter magazine. 10-12 honorable mentions from the contests will be credited in each issue as well. The writer(s) of the winning lyrics for each contest receive a DX1 Martin guitar, valued at $699.00. The three runners-up will each receive a Shure Microphone. The Annual Winner, chosen from the six bi-monthly contest winners, will receive Round Trip airfare for two to Nashville and a master production demo from Music City Music Productions, Inc. valued at over $1500.00. Finally, the annual winner receives a "Dream Co-writing Session" opportunity. He/she will choose one of two hit songwriters to write with. Kent Blazy ("If Tomorrow Never Comes" and many more...) and Bobby Braddock ("He Stopped Loving Her Today" and many more...) are the choices! The contest is open to any amateur songwriter. AS defines an amateur as a songwriter who has not earned more than $5,000 from songwriting related royalties, advances, or works for hire.

The deadline to submit your entry is July 20, 2008, so don't delay!
